bethhoeckel graduated from high school the same year I did. and like me, she then attended university in chicago. well, I went to college there for a year any way. unfortunately, that’s about all we seem to have in common.

ever since we were married we’ve found ourselves on all types of random catalog mailing lists including loads of lame stuff (hello sundance?) and mass amounts of home decor like pottery barn, EQ3, crate & barrel and what seems to be the hipper version of pottery barn, west elm. anyway, lately we seem to have graduated from the urban outfitters dorm furniture (it’s about time!) to the hipper pottery barn where we’ve actually found ourselves purchasing several pieces for our apartment including a grownup coffee table, area rug, and our current sheets which we totally love and were surprisingly super cheap (westelm). as I was walking the stack of just arrived catalogs from our mail box to the recycling bin this evening, I flipped through the new west elm catalog and found myself pausing at every other page. inside I found gold forks, terrarium kits, a mid century inspired nightstand I think I’ve been searching for my whole life, aztec prints, and tree stump tables. I’m just saying, gold flatware?!
